About Me

Mad, fun loving, nosey, caring, loving, tactile, straight, kind, fairly generous, helpful, critical, bossy and honest ! The simple things in life mean more than all the adornments we have or possess to make our lives better, only to find that all these things provide temporary gratification.....peace within oneself is by far the better answer....

Lentils revisited!

I was at the library again yesterday morning, and this is what happened......

Lentils, lentils everywhere!

These were some lentils left over from last week's Hannukah activities and I was given a leftover big bag as I love making lentil soup and dhal. What I hadn't realised was that it was an opened big bag of lentils. The bag had been put on a table near where I put my things when I go to the library, and then moved onto the chair, where my bag sits. I thought I would donate the bag of lentils to the food drive the school was having, picked it up, and started walking towards the exit door.... when, Mrs Jordan, someone said. Yes? Uh, you're leaving a trial... I am? I look down, and the pics show what I saw, ARGHHHHH!

I mean everywhere!

Mrs P, Mrs P, have you got a broom and dustpan? What's happened? says Mrs P.  Lentils, lentils, everywhere, at least they were bright and cheery! How we laughed. I said, I didn't realise the bag was opened, she said, neither did I, I've moved the bag at least 5 times before you.... and not a lentil was spilt.  What is it with me and lentils? She'd heard about my washing machine adventure. The caretaker was called and it was all vacuumed up in a jiffy. I wish the same could be said about the lentils in my washing machine, or more correctly, my landlady's washing machine.

Carrot and pineapple cake, yummy!
Another fun day sorting and shelving books, kinda therapeutic work.  I was treated to "fat Fridays" where they have some cakes and snacks for the staff on Fridays, teachers on duty that week, would bring in goodies to celebrate the end of the week.  What  lovely idea.  We had carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, shortbread, tortilla chips and salsa, jammy dodgers, choc mint cookies, craisins, and some mixed crisps. Fat Friday Indeed.

Naughty but nice
I was introduced to more staff and all were interested to know who my children were. Mitch's name only had to be mentioned and there was instant recognition for all the right reasons. Jasmine took a while to identify, but once I say she looks a bit like me and speaks with a British accent, most know who I mean. Jasmine is quieter and shyer than her brother.  Mitch has also auditioned for the school's musical, which will be performed at the end of the school year, and he's been given the part of Tweedle Dee which he seems pleased about. They will be performing Alice in Wonderland.

Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee

When I had arrived in school that morning, T (School Head Secretary) greeted me and asked out loud, how much I was being paid for my job at the school. There were several others in the office at the time. I was taken aback for just a second. Paid? Paid, I said, well, I get paid in muffins! Referring to the muffin I got given yesterday that T had made and brought in.  There was some laughter, and T's face fell slightly, she said, I have no muffins today... I laughed and said, I would work for nothing, you know that, the muffins were a real treat, thank you, and I need the recipe! More laughter, it was a great start to my morning of work.

Great invention, the Bento box

More treats to come. We lunched out, sushi bento box at Gal Sushi, Mrs P and Mrs M, I treated them as it was Mrs M's birthday last week and Mrs P treated me to lunch last week. Helping out at school is working out just fine...I now have a valid excuse not to return to work!

I get paid in bran and raisin muffins
