We spent a lovely afternoon at the Science Centre and learnt about all sorts, saw 2 shows, one on fire and combustion, the second on electricity, both very visual and great effects, in a controlled environment. The audience looked enthralled, well, the kids did. Dave and I on the other hand felt they were good, but we are getting too old for all this, lol. Miserable lot we are. The thing that was getting to me was that I knew that I knew the answers to certain questions that were asked by the scientist presenting the show. Somewhere in the far flung recesses of my brain called a memory, the knowledge was there, but could I prise in out of hibernation? Could I heck... once the answer was revealed though, the light bulb lit up like a beacon, oh yes, how could I forget? Almost like an Eureka moment! I am getting old, what is not used is lost, and lost it will remain till someone jogs my memory. I suppose I should be thankful that my memory can still be jogged.
The Ontario Science Centre is one of the best science centres we have visited, it's on 6 levels. As it was our first visit, we didn't realise that there were escalators as well as elevators that took you to the different floors. We wanted to get to level 6, for one of the shows, found some elevators, we were on Level 1, and when it arrived, it was going down, so we waited for one that was going up. We waited and waited and watched the numbers light up, and the lift that was going down, was on level 2, then 3 then 6, how did we miss that one when it was on it's way back up??? Puzzled. Anyhow, another lift finally arrived, it too was going down, and we decided to board it, go down then back up again. So, we packed in this lift, must have been about 15 of us in it, and the lift went down, to Level 2, then 3 ..... penny dropped, the Level 6 was 5 floors below level 1, we had assumed that the floors went up!
Jasmine was invited up on stage for an experiment, they needed someone tall to pedal a bike that would generate enough electricity to light up 4 light bulbs, she did really well ..
The Van de Graaf generator was the show stealer as was the lightning maker, and we were all invited for a hair makeover at the end.
A festive picture to end, some outdoor Christmas decs that we saw on our Boxing Day walk
